Private Lessons

With over twenty years of teaching experience, Shane Simpson has developed an approach to private guitar lessons that is both enjoyable and effective.

Private lessons are available on both electric and acoustic guitars, all styles, all ages - from absolute beginners to advanced students.

Private lessons are ideal for addressing your personal needs on the instrument - a program can be constructed to meet your stylistic preferences, and goals set toward your continued advancement in a fun and supportive atmosphere.

Shane works privately with both hobbyists and aspiring professionals - from Blues to Jazz, Rock to Country, Rhythm to Lead, Fingerpicking - and everywhere in between.

Lessons are one hour in length, typically every second week if a regular timeslot is desired.

Group Lessons / Guitar At Work

In 1997 Shane Simpson started the GUITAR AT WORK program. Group classes at high-tech companies, designed for beginner and intermediate participants, soon became incredibly popular and spread to some of the largest employers in the area.

Still popular to this day, GUITAR AT WORK continues to offer group lessons in board rooms and cafeterias at major local companies. Classes take place at lunchtime and/or at end of day.

See what the Ottawa Citizen had to say about GUITAR AT WORK.

group classes are a lot of fun and include all the elements of acoustic guitar playing such as chords, strumming, fingerpicking etc.

Blues and Jazz workshops are also available to cater to more advanced groups.

Some of the companies who have participated in the GUITAR AT WORK program include:

Research In Motion (RIM)
General Dynamics Canada

Government agencies have also participated:

Department of Fisheries & Oceans (DFO)
Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA)

If you are interested in starting the GUITAR AT WORK program at your place of employment, email or call Shane Simpson for details on how to get it up and running soon!

Shane has also been an annual participant in the 'OTTAWA BLUESFEST' program called 'BLUES IN THE SCHOOLS' where musicians travel to local schools teaching and performing for kids for a two week period. This program is fabulous for its ability to instill a love of music in children, and the desire to play music for kids of all ages. If you are interested in getting the BLUES IN THE SCHOOLS program going in your school, contact the 'OTTAWA BLUESFEST'.

Shane also travels to schools independently to give seminars on a wide range of topics including songwriting, careers in music, guitar playing, and recording.
